Oscar Muñoz

Oscar Muñoz (1951)

kiállítása: Mirror Image 13 June - 27 July 2008, Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts), London
kolumbiai művész, központi témája az emlékezet és az idő.
Linea del Destino, 2006

Muñoz says: My work insists […] in documenting an immemorial scenario: the ‘logic of everyday thinking’ that stems from the impossibility of retaining and fixing images permanently.
...My work today arises from my interest in understanding how a society comes to accept war – or rather, a dark and corrupted succession of wars over more than 50 years and which have not yet ended - as part of the routine of living, where both the past and the present are plagued with daily violent events which are persistently repeated.

plus: „In Aliento (1996-2002), mirrored discs are mounted on a wall. The glossy surface invites the viewer to look deeper. Breathing on the glass reveals faces – from photographs in Colombian newspapers - which disappear as the mist diminishes.”

Ana Mendieta, Joan Jonas, Chantal Akerman, Francesca Woodman, Lili Dujourie

„Ana Mendieta’s moving photographs of her naked body flattened by a pane of glass (as “live photographs”) and the “remnant photographs” of a Joan Jonas performance where women hold full length mirrors in front of their body and mirror the audience in them, are also provocative. There are poetic moments to be found in the work of Belgian Lilly Dujourie (photos) and her better known compatriot Chantal Ackerman (film). (Some of French Agnes Varda’s films could have perhaps been included)”. (coagula magazinban - 20070517)

MEXICO CITY.- Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo presents Elipsis: Chantal Akerman, Lili Dujourie, Francesca Woodman, on view October 4, January 6, 2008. The exhibit will present together works by Chantal Akerman (Brussels, 1950), Lili Dujourie (Lovendegem, 1941) and Francesca Woodman (Denver, 1958 – New York, 1981), for the first time. During the 1970’s the artists did performance art in front of a camera. The artist’s proposals refer to the alienated relationship of woman in the world. Their worries relate to the construction and representation of the identity.
